FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Appointments

Make an appointment today by telephoning 9488 8100. Appointments are normally made at 15 minute intervals. This may change if there have been emergencies or if the surgery is very busy.  If you wish, you can phone the surgery before your appointment to check whether your doctor is running on time.

  • After Hours Services

Medical attention for urgent problems can always be found by phoning the surgery, day or night, on 9488 8100. After hours visits are provided by the National Home Doctor Service, who will visit at home for emergencies. Their services are bulk-billed. Please ring the practice for more details. Please do not call for routine matters before 8am or after 6.30pm.

In an extreme emergency, dial 000 for an ambulance.

  • Privacy Policy

Your medical record is a confidential document. Our policy is to maintain security of your record always. Access is only available from authorised staff when clinically indicated. All members of staff have signed a confidentiality agreement.

  • Repeat Prescriptions

Prescriptions for medicines taken regularly can sometimes be obtained without seeing a doctor if your condition has been monitored recently and you have been seen at the practice within the last 6 months. This is at the doctor’s discretion bearing your best interests in mind. Repeat scripts incur a charge of $15.00.

  • Referrals

If referrals are required it is best to see your doctor so that a clinical assessment can be made to assist the specialist. Exceptions may be made – for example, routine eye referrals. For dermatology referrals, it may be best to see your GP first as any new skin lesions can be assessed for urgency of treatment at the time of referral and appropriate arrangements made. Please note that referrals cannot be backdated.

  • Test Results

It is important that you follow up after any tests are performed.  Discuss with your Doctor if they require an appointment to review results. For regular routine monitoring tests they may be happy to discuss over the phone.  If you have any concerns at all it is important you discuss this with your doctor and an appointment is the best way to achieve this.
